Courtney was born and raised in Upcountry Maui, and her family dates back to the mid 1800's here on the island. She attended high school in San Francisco, and graduated Cum Laude from Smith College. She is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Her volunteer work with the Realtor's Association of Maui includes Regional Director and Director at Large. She is also assisting the Lahainaluna High School Foundation with marketing and PR initiatives.
